About Sistra

There is an invisible thread connecting women across places and generations. Sistra follows it.

Sistra is a curated directory of women-led projects worth supporting. Collectives, cultural initiatives, social enterprises, places, brands and community projects — each one written up so you can understand what it is, why it matters, and how to support it today.

01

What belongs in Sistra

Sistra is not a directory of female-founded companies. Our editorial filter is women-led work with something meaningful being carried forward, created or strengthened — craft, cultural knowledge, food traditions, relationships with land, community knowledge, creative practice, economic agency, or a model another generation will inherit. Projects can be businesses, cooperatives, collectives, nonprofits, social enterprises, cultural initiatives, hospitality projects or artisan groups. What matters is that something is being carried.

02

How projects are found

Projects come to us through editorial research, founder submissions, traveler recommendations, community referrals, and direct relationships built over time.

03

How projects are selected

Every recommendation and submission is read by the Sistra editorial team. Being submitted does not guarantee inclusion, and placement can never be bought. Inclusion is editorial and does not constitute certification or independent verification of impact claims — it means an editor believed the project was worth knowing about.

04

Transparency

Sistra may earn a commission when readers purchase or book through selected links, at no additional cost to them. Affiliate relationships do not determine whether a project is included or how it is presented.
