Why sistra?

Sistra was born from the space between languages, cultures, and generations.

The name comes from sestra — which means “sister” in both Russian and Ukrainian — a reflection of the founder’s roots as a native Russian speaker born to parents from Kyiv, Ukraine.

It’s a word that carries the tenderness of heritage and the strength of connection — a reminder that sisterhood transcends borders.

Sistra is about honoring where we come from while creating space for who we’re becoming.
