Alicia Zamora Noguera built Tonantzin around a simple but ambitious idea: art could give young women a way to express themselves, earn their own money and protect their identities at the same time.
Working with girls and young women from Granada, she combined printmaking with digital skills and online-safety practices, helping members create and sell work while retaining control over how they appeared publicly. Income from the collective has helped some artists contribute to their families and continue their education.
Today, Alicia’s Granada studio remains a place where women gather, make work and build lives around their own creative practice.
