Liz Rivas is the founder and CEO of RoamCircle, a global community and travel platform built around a deceptively simple idea: moving through the world should not have to mean navigating it alone.
RoamCircle helps women find friendships, local communities and shared experiences whether they're traveling solo, relocating abroad or simply looking for deeper connection where they live. What began as Liz's response to her own experience of starting over has grown into a platform connecting technology with real-world community.

RoamCircle began during a period of reinvention in Liz's own life.
After the end of a long-term relationship, she spent the following year traveling solo through 13 countries. The destinations changed, but a recurring theme followed her: women wanted the freedom to travel, move and build lives on their own terms, yet finding genuine friendship and community in a new place could be surprisingly difficult.
Liz saw women piecing together connection through dating apps, Facebook groups, Meetup and WhatsApp chats. She began imagining something built specifically around friendship, belonging and life on the move.
That idea became RoamCircle.

Belonging shouldn't be left to chance
For women whose lives cross cities, countries and conventional definitions of home, community can become something that has to be rebuilt again and again.
Liz's work sits at that intersection of movement and belonging. Through RoamCircle, she is exploring how technology can facilitate something fundamentally human: finding people, forming friendships and creating a sense of place.
Her perspective also complicates the idea that freedom is simply the ability to go anywhere. As Liz has written about her own experience, independence and mobility can coexist with loneliness. The question then becomes not only where can women go? but what helps them belong once they get there?
