What it is
RoamCircle was created around a problem founder Liz Rivas kept seeing firsthand: women were gaining more freedom to travel, relocate and build lives across borders, but often without a trusted community around them.
The platform is designed for solo travelers, digital nomads, expats, remote workers and women entering new chapters of life. Rather than centering endless online interaction, RoamCircle is built around real-world connection — helping members meet women nearby, join local communities, attend events and curated experiences, and find people to explore with.
RoamCircle has since expanded beyond a friendship app into a broader travel and community ecosystem, combining local meetups, city communities, group travel and curated experiences. Liz has publicly described the larger ambition as creating a place where women can find meaningful friendship and belonging whether they are traveling, moving abroad or simply looking for deeper connection where they live.
Built for real-world connection
RoamCircle is designed to move relationships beyond the screen. Members can connect with women nearby, join local communities, discover events and participate in curated experiences.
Trust is part of that model. The platform uses member verification, reporting and blocking tools, privacy controls, community guidelines and active moderation. Its stated goal is to make meeting new people while traveling or relocating feel safer and more intentional.
From app to ecosystem
RoamCircle is expanding beyond digital introductions into city communities, meetups, curated experiences and small-group travel. The idea is not simply to help women find someone to message, but to create ways for relationships to form through real places and shared experiences.

Liz Rivas is the founder and CEO of RoamCircle, a global community and travel platform helping women build meaningful friendships wherever they are in the world.
Her story
After the end of a long-term relationship, Liz spent a year traveling solo through 13 countries. Along the way, she kept meeting women navigating the same challenge: the freedom to travel, relocate or build a different kind of life could also come with loneliness and the difficulty of finding genuine community. That experience became the foundation for RoamCircle.
What she's building toward
Through RoamCircle, Liz is building an ecosystem that brings together technology, local communities and shared experiences to make friendship and belonging easier to find for women traveling, relocating or living abroad.
